The most advanced beacon out of the Arva range, this high-end Arva AXIO transceiver offers a 60-metre search bandwidth, The AXIO is the only transceiver on the market which processes an entire spherical search with 3 antennas working together. The 3rd antenna can be deployed to create a real landmark built by the antenna of the beacon.
The AXIO is more advanced than other transceivers and is relatively easy to use, The unit can be turned on via the left-hand side button on the main body.
A single red joy-stick directly below the screen that helps you navigate menu options such as a flagging function, this function can be used for multiple burials where you can flag up to 5 plus victims.
The AXIO has a red arm that turns the beacon into Search mode and contains the third antenna, this makes it easy to operate when searching.
The AXIO has a W-Link Frequency which is Similar to the Mammut Barryvox S, this can transmit additional information on the "W-link" frequency to help keep from getting confused.
W-Link frequency is essentially a separate, secondary frequency which operates on 868 MHz, the primary purpose of which is to reduces signal confusion.
Arva AXIO Transceiver Search:
The Arva AXIO Transceiver has one of the fastest search methods and has a search bandwidth of up to 60 metres.
you will also be able to search in digital or analogue mode.
The AXIO is the only transceiver on the market which offers a “Spheric Search” technology, Spheric search uses the big antenna for primary search, the second antenna on secondary search and 3rd antenna on the fine search.
The new search allows all 3 antennas to work simultaneously for faster and smarter searches.
Arva AXIO Transceiver Multiple Burials:
The AXIO can detect up to five or more buried victim signals and has a more effective marking/flagging function. Due to the fold out the third antenna, the AXIO rarely ever gets confused when there are serial burials in one area.
The AXIO offers several features to help it more effectively deal with multiple burials. The first feature is how the AXIO will easily let you toggle between victims.
This is nice in the event of lots of rescuers where you have several people digging, and you move on to the next beacon.
The second feature allows you to go into an analogue mode when in close proximity to the buried victims.
It is activated when in search mode by pressing the power button, which prompts the display to ask you if you want to go into analogue mode.
The AXIO transceiver only operates with 3 standard Alkaline AAA/LRO3 batteries.
Do not use rechargeable or lithium batteries. The batteries should all be replaced at the same time.
The label in the battery compartment is important for all servicing procedures, do not remove it.
Your AXIO must always be worn on top of your base layer. Your AXIO should always be covered by at least one layer of clothing to protect it from the cold and impacts.
Wear the device in its holster and in the following manner:
You can conduct a search with your transceiver still in its harness.
Your device has a 5-year warranty starting at the date of manufacture. We recommend sending your transceiver in for maintenance on a regular basis: once every 3 years for amateurs, and once every two years for professionals.
Arva AXIO Transceiver controls:
Digital Search Mode:
To switch to search mode you must pull the red antenna up on the top right-hand side of your transceiver
Return to Transmit:
To return back to transmit/send mode slowly fold the red antenna back into the transceiver, this will trigger the send mode.
Analogue Search Mode:
Two additional choices are available in the menu in receive mode, Analog and Send.
Send mode allows you to switch to transmit mode from receive mode via the menu. The Analog mode allows you to activate an analogue search.
In Analog mode the device provides a sensitivity indication allowing you to adjust receiver sensitivity based on distance.
An analogue search is only recommended for expert users.
The Arva AXIO is the go-to transceiver for professionals or those who venture off-piste regularly. The transceiver offers the new smart “Spheric Search”, This search method will use all of the 3 antennas simultaneously for a faster and more effective search.
This avalanche device will also allow you to flag (mark) up to 5 or more victims. This AXIO is ideal for long days off-piste or within the backcountry.
