The Arva EVO4 Transceiver is an intuitive beacon that is very easy to use and is one of the cheapest three antenna transceivers on the market. The EVO4 has a new design of the LCD screen and a marking function as well as a search bandwidth of 40 m.
The Arva EVO4 transceiver comes with a new CLIP FOR SAFE CONCEPT feature, as you put your transceiver on, it automatically will start to transmit, this is an easy and convenient way to increase everyone's safety while in the backcountry.
Arva EVO4 Transceiver Display (Interface):
The Arva EVO4 transceiver has a very simple and easy to use interface, the interface will allow you to quickly identify the number of victims involved in the search as well as having a flagging function for multiple burials.
The interface allows you to group–check.
Just after turning on your device, it will indicate the battery level. We recommend that you replace the batteries as soon as they drop below 50%.
Arva EVO4 Transceiver Search:
Moving the EVO4 from Send to Search is super easy, you pull up on the big red tab at the top of the beacon.
When receiving a signal the EVO4 will allow you to "course search" and keep you on the flux line very efficiently with audible tones and directional arrows.
Once within 3 meters of the victim, your EVO4 no longer indicates a direction and you must start the fine search methods.
1. When fine searching with the EVO4 you should lower your device to near snow level. 2. Move your device in a cross pattern to locate the point where the distance reading is the lowest.
It will then be much quicker to start probing once you have defined the probable burial zone within a less than one-meter range.
Arva EVO4 Transceiver Multiple Burials:
The best feature of the EVO4 is its multiple burial functions and more importantly the interface surrounding this function.
The new EVO4 features a simple marking function that uses a well-designed display and is activated by a red-flagging button.
When multiple signals are being received, the EVO4 has multiple burial victim icons displayed on the left side of the screen with 1, 2, or 3 people (victim) icons.
The distance to the next closest beacon is still displayed in the centre of the screen. Once a victim has been marked (flagged) a little flag symbol will appear next to the victim icon.
This transceiver only operates with 4 standard Alkaline AAA/LRO3 batteries.
Do not use rechargeable or lithium batteries. The batteries should all be replaced at the same time. The label in the battery compartment is important for all servicing procedures, do not remove it.
Your Arva EVO4 must always be worn on top of your base layer. This transceiver should always be covered by at least one layer of clothing to protect it from the cold and impacts.
Your device has a 5-year warranty. We recommend sending your transceiver in for maintenance on a regular basis, once every 3 years for amateurs, and once every two years for professionals.
Arva EVO4 Transceiver controls:
The EVO4 offers a very simple to use search and return to transmit function. To switch to search mode simply push the S/T button up with your thumb, to return it back to transmit pull the S/T button back down.
The Arva EVO4 is ideal for those who are inexperienced or professionals looking for an easy to use three antennae digital transceiver, with multiple burials and a flagging function this beacon is perfect for short days off-piste or within the backcountry.
