“Tracker’s legendary ease-of-use in a smaller package.”
The BCA DTS Tracker 3 has an efficient and progressive industrial design, making it the most developed of BCA's Tracker range.
The T3’s foundation is still built around the industries' fastest, most precise pinpointing and instantaneous real-time display. However, the Tracker 3 is now 30 per cent smaller and lighter than the Tracker 2
If skiers are caught out by an avalanche, their companions in the vicinity have their work cut out. They have to locate the victims and dig them out as quickly as possible. The chances of survival diminish rapidly after 18 minutes of burial in the snow. Using a transceiver can radically reduce search times, thus increasing the chances of a successful rescue.
The BCA DTS Tracker 3 is a very good advance in transceiver design. The device weighs only 170 grams and is very small and easy to carry (BCA’s goal was the size of a modern Smartphone).
In search mode, it tells you if you have 1, 2 or multiple victims and whether they are in close proximity.
There is a button that you can push that gives you a 'big picture' of the search and allows you to review all signals received in the case of multiple burials, helping the user to direct a search if working with other rescuers.
When you let the button go it locks back on the closest victim. Once you get to the first victim, you can suppress this signal and you will then lock onto the next closest victim.
The BCA DTS Tracker 3 can be bought within the BCA Tracker 3 Package includes the Terrawest Core Light Shovel & Terrawest Core 240 Probe.
New features include BCA’s no-nonsense markings for multiple burials and a special Multi-Burial Button that can switch between or suppress any signal in any direction in a multi-burial situation.
The foundation on the BCA DTS Tracker 3 is still built around the original Tracker Technology which provides the industry’s fastest, most precise pinpointing and instantaneous real-time display.
Combine this with Tracker’s reputation for durability and reliability and you have the most functional beacon in the marketplace.

Avalanche transceivers are essential items of equipment for anyone going off Piste but useless unless the carrier also has a probe and shovel to dig the victim out.
The Avalanche transceiver can make the difference between life and death. When the tracker shows you’re within 3 metres of the victim, put the beacon to the ground and prepare to use the probe and shovel.
"What are the differences between the Tracker 2 and Tracker 3”
The Tracker 2 and Tracker 3 use 3 antennae. The 3rd antenna is used during the last stage of the search to pinpoint the accuracy by the distance indication, which eliminates the "null spot/spike" that occurs when the receiving antenna is perpendicular to the flux field direction. This will make the Tracker 2 appear much smoother in the final search stage. The Tracker 3 operates the same 3 antenna system as the Tracker 2 but is almost 30% faster.
The antenna in the Trackers 2 + 3, immediately on startup and then periodically once switched on, balance themselves against each other whilst taking into account temperature to make the directional information more accurate.
The Real Time Display on the Trackers 2 + 3 processes the input signal instantly and updates the display at the same time. This is to prevent users from overshooting the target transceiver as they tend to move faster when they get near the target.
During Signal Lock-On, the Tracker 1 displays all signals received within 10 metres and then locks onto the strongest signal and hide the others. The Tracker 2 does this from any distance and will only ever guide you to the strongest signal (i.e. the closest). You can override this by going into a special mode, however, and the Tracker 3 has extra options of suppressing any of your multiple burial signals in any direction or distance.
The Trackers 2 + 3 have multiple burial lights that come on to alert you that although you are only seeing one transceiver, there are multiple signals present. If the light is flashing (in time with the beeps) it means the Tracker believes these signals are very close together.
The reception range of the Tracker 2 is greater by 10m that that of the Tracker.
The Tracker 2 + 3 are also quicker to put back into transmit mode in the case of a secondary avalanche.
The Tracker 3 is 30% lighter, smaller and faster than the Tracker 2.
