Thanks to the optimized PFA system, the Ortovox Alu 240 PFA Probe is now More compact while also offering better handling.

The quick-assembly strap makes immediate opening and assembly possible in one motion. In order to determine burial depth and select an optimized shovelling strategy, all our probes have highly legible Depth Markers and a clear 1 Meter Marker.

The bottommost segment in neon orange provides visual notification of the proximity of the buried person during shovelling.

The Ortovox Alu 240 PFA Probe new and improved Rubberized Grip also ensures safe, ice-free handling in all conditions.

Ortovox optimised the finer details for even quicker and more efficient handling: The quick-assembly strap, which is attached to the outside of the probe cover, makes immediate opening and assembly possible in one motion.

The PFA system also ensures it locks into place smoothly.

You can perfectly Adapt your shovelling strategy and save important time thanks to the clear 1m marker, Contrasting Depth Scale and Colourful End Segments. The bottommost segments in neon orange indicate when you are approaching the victim.

The quick-assembly strap makes immediate Opening and Assembly possible In One Motion, without first having to take the probe out of its cover.

Large Probe Tip

The significantly larger diameter of the probe tip compared to the probe elements ensures improved penetration.

Material Properties

Probe Poles - 7075 Aluminium T6 - Light and stiff and thus the aluminium of choice for all aluminium probes. Ortovox uses different tube diameters between 11 and 13 mm- meaning: the thicker the diameter, the heavier and stiffer the probe.
Probe Tensioning System - Steel - Steel is extremely rigid and sturdy. When weight is not a factor, but reliability and probing accuracy play a role, steel is first choice!
