Recco Refleltor enable rescue professionals to locate you with Recco Detectors in the event of an avalanche accident or when lost in the out doors.
Avalanche transceivers CAN NOT pick up signals from the Recco Reflectors, the reflectors should be a companion to your transceiver for extra safety.
The Recco Rescue System is different from Avalanche Transceivers because its a small band-aid size sticky transponder which is not powered, the reflector can be applied to your boots or helmet, the Recco detector does not contain any antennas and cannot be picked up by an avalanche beacon, the Recco detector has a range of over 200 metres which professional mountain rescue teams can pick up in the case of an avalanche.
Due to it not being a transceiver device the reflector will not lose signal strength and battery to function.
Its highly recommend by Recco and by Snowsafe that you wear 2 Recco rescue reflectors, one on your boots and one on your ski or boarding helmet.

The RECCO SAR Helicopter Detector is a missing person search device to search wide areas fast for people equipped with RECCO Rescue Reflectors. The detector is attached to the helicopter with a sling and carried as a hanging load.

The RECCO detector transmits a directional radio signal that is reflected by the RECCO rescue reflector. The detector operator perceives the reflected signal as a tone, and the closer the detector gets to the reflector, the stronger the signal/tone.
