Why is voice calming in a search situation?

Intuitive operation is the same as automatic action: The less you have to think, the better – there’s no question about it. The voice navigation in the diract voice beacon alone is a great help because you can keep your eyes focused on the situation and not on the device. Visual information needs to be processed first and then translated into action.

When this is done for us by a voice and the instructions are direct, we save ourslves one step in the processing sequence. Thus, clear instructions mean we need less cognitive capacity, which is already limited in such a situation.

In stressful situations like an avalanche, a voice is always good. This is also something you learn during first aid. You feel less alone and calmer. Thus, in an optimal situation, stress levels will fall and cognitive ability improve.

Get Found Easier:

We have integrated patented Smart Antenna Technology into the Diract. It analyzes the device location in the avalanche and provides you with double support: On the one hand, it Improves Transmission Performance After the Avalanche Stops, while on the other it Automatically switches to the best transmission antenna. This means you get up to Double the Range and are easier to find!

Ortovox Diract Voice Software Updates:

Carrying Harness

The Ortovox Diract Voice Transceiver comes with a Quick Access Carrying System. The device is Automatically Released upon opening and is immediately ready for use. An Extremely Tear-Resistant yet Elastic Body Connection (30kg tensile strength) prevents loss of the device when searching. As a backup, the RECCO® Reflector integrated into the carrying system further increases your chances of being found.
